PRINT DETAILS
This has a clear, vivid image resolution on high-quality, professional, archival photo paper, with ultra fine detail and clear, vivid image quality. This is for the PRINT only. The options for purchase on this page are NOT framed.
It's perfect for those who have a frame that is just right or aren't sure how they want to hang it just yet!
Matte: Is our most popular paper. It has a flat finish with no shine. Matte is the best choice if you prefer a more old school, subtle look. It's the best choice if you want a more artsy, low tech type quality, and it is closest to traditional printmaking techniques.
Glossy: Is very shiny and has a reflective quality. Glossy is a great choice for color photographs, as the colors are extremely vibrant and pop. It's very straightforward with a rich shine.
Luster: Has superior color saturation with deep blacks. Luster has a semi-gloss finish which is less shiny and has less glare than glossy paper, but it is also more reflective than matte paper. It has the most accurate skin tone representation, and the colors are vibrant and give a true-to-life look. Its color stability makes it archival, and is long lasting.
Pearlescent: Has a high gloss finish with a distinctive iridescent look. Pearly mica crystals embedded in the paper provide a reflective, metallic, nearly iridescent, finish. High color saturation and excellent color longevity, with intense warmth and depth.

Joshua Tree No. 7 Original Painting by Suzan Friedland
Regular price $675.00Original watercolor, ink & graphite painting on watercolor paper. It is on 12 inch x 16 inch cold press, heavyweight Arches watercolor paper. There is only one of this item.
ABOUT THE SERIES: JOSHUA TREE DREAMS
Before Suzan moved to Joshua Tree, she visited often and fell in love with the vast skies, the rocks, and the strange trees. She started a series while visiting and her work mingles her earthy palette and abstract dance with paint.
The natural environment is a powerful source of inspiration for Suzan's work. She spends quite a bit of time manipulating color and texture to portray both the color and topography of natural landscapes and the range of feelings they evoke. The recognition of impermanence informs much of her work. She gravitates towards the colors of fading flowers, the textures of clouds — natural elements that are continuously changing in perceptible and imperceptible ways. The attempt to express their ephemeral qualities in a static form is inherently paradoxical: her meditation practice has helped her learn to embrace rather than avoid this seemingly contradictory effort.
Here in the Mojave, the interplay of growth and decay is embedded in geological instability: gneiss, and granite plutons in dynamic balance with continual erosion. The rapidly fluctuating weather provides a particularly inspirational source.
Her philosophy of art is grounded in embracing both the necessity and impossibility of predicting directions and defining goals while the work is coming into existence. As Zen master Seung Sahn puts it, "Only don't know."
